“He did recently approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would ultimately run from Canada to Texas. It will create 1000s of jobs, but his environmental constituents are beside themselves. It’s a good start, and I anxiously watch what he does. But, I think the better bet is that he will continue to give speeches and convince America that more taxes equal more jobs.”
I did try to give him credit for doing something to create jobs, but then as now I am skeptical of this president displaying any kind of political courage or deviating from the socialist path he has us on. Right on cue, on Nov 10th, President Obama’s administration did a 180 and decided that more review is necessary and a final decision to build this pipeline will be delayed until at least the first quarter of 2013.

Remind me again, when is the presidential election? I would get all cynical on you and say that this was just a cowardly attempt to put off a difficult decision until after the election, but Charles Krauthammer beat me to it.

Back before “Hope and Change” and even before he began to spend his weekdays as the junior Senator from Illinois, Barrack Obama was a state senator. The Illinois senate has an interesting way to vote for a bill. You can push the green button for Yes, the red button for No, or the cowardly yellow button for Present. Present means “I am here and I am too afraid to take a position” And just how many times did the future leader of the United States decide he was to afraid too vote? 129 times.
http://www.factcheck.org/2008/09/obamas-legislative-record/ His apologists argue that voting Present is just a way “for a lawmaker to express disapproval of a measure.” Sounds like a polite way to say “coward”. Everyone else just votes against something to show disapproval.
Back in those days he used the Yellow Button on such “measures” as outlawing late term abortion or notifying a parent if their underage child was getting an abortion. A real leader would either have the courage to vote for these or against them and deal let chips fall where they may.
Obama administration has demonstrated cowardice towards dealing with racial issues. Being the first black President of the United States, Barrack Obama was in the unique situation of being able to bring this country closer together on issues dealing with black vs white. But to do this he would have had to stand up to his black constituency. He could have started with Peggy Joseph. She was the Obama supporter who right before the election was delirious at the prospect of his election. If she helped Obama, she was expecting gas for her car and her mortgage to be paid. Candidate Obama could have responded with some sort of narrative on personal responsibility. But that would have required courage.
After he was elected he had another opportunity, when his friend Henry Louis Gates and a Cambridge police officer got into a tiff when the officer was responding to a suspicious person at Gates’ home. Gates turned out to be that person. A real leader would not have undermined the investigation by commenting at all. He would have allowed the people in Massachusets make an investigation and then issue possibly issue a statement if something was needed from the President. But first after admitting that he did not have all the facts, the President took the cowardly position of automatically siding with his black friend, instead of waiting to hear exactly what happened. Obama said “….the Cambridge police acted stupidly." It would have taken some courage to let men do their jobs and get the whole story. But that would not have been what he thought the 96% of blacks who voted for him wanted.
He had a third opportunity when a Black Panther was arrested for voter intimidation in Philadelphia during the 2008 election. The man, an obvious racist and white-hater, was on the verge of being convicted for voter intimidation, when Obama’s administration just dropped all charges.

President Obama is an ex-law professor and as US Senator introduced legislation to strengthen voter intimidation laws. So here he had the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is, but because the defendant is the wrong color, he has his Attorney General drop all charges against the advice of seasoned prosecutors in the AG’s office.
I am pointing the examples from a conservative perspective. If I wanted to waste a 1000 or so words I could point out an equal number or examples of Obama not standing up and fighting for what he professed to be his core beliefs. But, to be honest those of a liberal bent are going to vote for him no matter what he does, so why bother.
There is an old adage that you have to “Lead, Follow, or Get Out of The Way” The President of the United States follows no man. This man won’t lead. It’s time for the voters of this nation to show him the way out.
