My Goals
Here is my Bucket List. I am proud to say that I had a bucket list long before the movie came out. I put my first goals down on paper and have been working to achieve them since 2000. My plan has always been to acheive two a year, and to eventually have a list of 100 goals. Currently I only have 81. I used to have 89, but as I have aged and other circumstances have changed, my desire to achieve several goals have diminished. Having a wife who is not particularly interested in it had something to do with it as well. To date I have achieved 43 of my goals. Those are listed as well. When you look at my goals, I imagine the reactions will range from "Cool, me too!" to "Why bother' to "What, you've never done that?" But, these are what I want to achieve, not what I think someone else would want me to achieve. My thought behind this was to list things that would insure that I got something out of the limited time I have on this planet, to hopefully leave something behind that would cause me to be remembered, and to experience what I think are the things that make life fun. You will obviously will have a different set of priorities and desires. Do I expect to achieve all of these? The odds are against me. But, what I do have in my favor is that I know what stands in my way to achieving each one of them, and I actively work to remove those barriers. I have always lived by the axiom that "Where there's a will, there's a way". My own personal addendum to that is "But, first you have to have the will" I have the will and desire to achieve each one of these goals. If (when) my priorities and outlook changes, the goal will be removed or amended. As the mood strikes me, I will likely add a page for some or all of these goals, explaining why they are important to me, and what I am doing to achieve them. I used to address each one of these in that manner, once per year. But, a hard drive crash erased 7 years worth of efforts to that end, and I am just now over coming that discouragement. If anyone reading this has thoughts about a way in which I might not know about or is not obvious towards achieving one of these goals, I'm all ears.
