The reference in my title to Mark Uterus is not original. I heard it from Lynn Bartels of the Denver Post, as she moderated a debate between Uter…I mean Udall and his challenger, Cory Gardner.
The genesis of the nickname is obvious. It seems like every ad that the Udall campaigns runs accuses Gardner of being in favor of turning our ladies into baby-making slaves. It’s a complete sham and it is not playing well in Colorado. The women of Colorado see right through his ploy and the polls show it. Gardner has now made up the original deficit and is leading in all major polls, and pulling through the margin of error in some.
This campaign is not solely about reproductive issues, and neither is this blog. Mark Udall is the incumbent, the man currently representing us in the United States Senate. He was elected six years ago, so this is the first time he has faced his constituents to show what he has done. This should give you a hint as to why half of his ads are trying to tap into the emotions of women.
There is nothing he proudly points to and says “This is what I have done for the people of Colorado in my six years” I looked at his GovTrack 2013 (latest available) scorecard and it confirmed what I was saying. In 2013 Udall managed to get ONE bill out of committee and to the floor. It is been sitting there since June.
But rest assured Udall has been voting. Oh, Yes. He voted in favor of the Affordable Care Act; ObamaCare. But even though he trumpeted the “If you like you blah blah blah, you can keep your blah blah blah” Obama lie, and was gung-ho for this poorly thought out abomination, you don’t hear him say a word about it on the campaign trail.
Oh, contraire. Just this year, when a quarter of a million health insurance cancellation notices went out to Colorado families, as a direct result of ObamaCare, Udall had his legislative director call Colorado’s Division of Insurance to pressure them to suppress this fact. So, not only did he vote for it, he is willing to abuse his power as a Senator to insure that voters of Colorado don’t hear how bad it is.
Colorado is a major player in the oil and natural gas industry. Mark Udall wants no part of developing those natural resources. He is on record as being against the Keystone pipeline, on the absurd pretense that it needs more study. They have been studying and debating this pipeline for longer than Udall has been in the Senate. Trust me; he has studied it all that he needs to. Obama told him to vote No, and he will.
Yes, I said it. Udall is an Obama lackey. According to an analysis of Udall’s voting record for 2013, done by the Congressional Quarterly, on issues where our socialist president has taken a stance, Udall has voted to support him 99% of the time. I wonder what the single opposition vote was. Probably the Ford post office in Vail.
So much for Udall’s laughable claim that “I am the senator that the white house fears the most…..”. Why? Does he have poor table manners? Does he give away the punch lines on jokes? Maybe he laughs like a donkey. Because why would Obama fear a man whose nickname should be The Human Rubberstamp?
Finally, you know, you just know that you are doing a worse job than Chris Christie’s dietitian, when the liberal Denver Post comes out and endorses your conservative opponent, Cory Gardner.
The post calls Gardner “a rising star”, “someone to be reckoned with” and “whose words carry weight” They say Udall “is not perceived as leader in Washington”
Talking about Mark Uterus’ ad campaign, the Post says “His obnoxious one-issue campaign is an insult to those he seeks to convince.”
Doesn’t this sound exactly like what I have been trying to tell you for a thousand words?
